Michael Miskulin

Michael Miskulin is the Founder of Energy Solutions IQ and a senior energy and electrical safety leader with more than 30 years of experience across construction, electrical installations, regulatory enforcement, governance, and executive leadership within Australia’s energy sector.

Michael spent 14 years within the Electrical Regulator, culminating in senior leadership responsibility for statewide electrical installation safety and compliance across the full electrical industry — including utility-scale renewable energy facilities, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission-connected assets, data centres, and conventional generation and installation infrastructure.

As Head of Electrical Installation Safety, Michael held direct accountability for regulatory compliance outcomes, leading complex audits, incident investigations, and enforcement actions, and advising executives and government on safety, legal, and commercial risk associated with electrical systems and infrastructure. His role extended beyond operational enforcement into strategic regulatory leadership, where he was part of the leadership group responsible for developing and shaping the regulator’s forward strategy, including how the organisation responds to emerging technologies, systemic risk, and the rapid expansion of renewable generation.

Michael also sat on multiple regulatory enforcement and governance committees, representing the regulator in forums that influenced enforcement priorities, policy direction, and sector-wide risk management. This included participation on renewable energy enforcement committees, emergency management and energy steering committees, and national standards bodies, where he contributed directly to decisions on compliance thresholds, enforcement approaches, and the development of regulatory guidance and standards.

Throughout his regulatory tenure, Michael was responsible for developing and amending electrical standards, issuing authoritative industry guidance, and contributing to legislative change in response to general electrical compliance, incidents, emerging risks, and new renewable technologies. Through enforcement activity and policy leadership, he helped define the practical benchmarks regulators use to assess whether organisations and officers have met their statutory obligations.

Prior to his regulatory leadership, Michael held senior commercial and technical roles in the electrical inspection and construction sector, including as Director of AM Inspection Group, where he was accountable for grid connection compliance, commissioning quality, contractor governance, and stakeholder engagement across general and complex infrastructure projects.
